Per iniziare installiamo i pacchetti necessari:

~# apt-get install build-essential ndiswrapper-common ndiswrapper-utils-1.9

poi scarichiamo l’ultima versione di ndiswrapper, compiliamola e installiamola con:

~$ make
~$ sudo make install

A questo punto scarichiamo i driver della scheda wireless da qui e scompattiamoli. Installiamo il driver in ndiswrapper:

~# ndiswrapper -i path/to/bcmwl5.inf
~# ndiswrapper -m

Aggiungiamo il modulo:

~# echo "ndiswrapper" >> /etc/modules

e infine riavviamo, finito.

Il risultato e’ piuttosto buono: sto infatti scrivendo connesso ad una rete WPA2 mentre ascolto Jango, NetworkManager vede pero’ 2 sole reti mentre l’Atheros ne vede 3 e non viene mostrata la loro potenza, ma per me e’ piu’ che sufficiente!

Un’ultima cosa: ho deciso che, per quanto possibile, scrivero’ le guide tecniche sia in inglese che in italiano e, gia’ che ci sono, mi iscrivo anche ad un corso di inglese all’Universita’, sara’ meglio colmare le molte lacune! :)

I was going to update my old post about using Fritz!WLAN USB Stick on Ubuntu Gutsy but I was surprised that now to make this drive work I’d only have to plug it on the usb port of my MacMini!

The result is quite perfect: I’m now writing using it (connecedt to a WPA2 network) while earing Jango but Network Manager shows only 2 networks (just a little less than those showed by the Atheros, 3) and it doesn’t show the signal power of the networks, but it’s enough for me!
